Mr. Teasley was born in Lincoln County, raised in Oglethorpe County, but spent most of his life in Augusta. He served in the U. S. Navy at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba during World War II. After the war he met and married Sibyl, his sweetheart of 62 years. Mr. Teasley spent most of his working career in the auto parts business. He was owner and operator of Tiger Car Parts Co. He was a member of the Fleming Lions Club, having served as president and was awarded the Melvin Jones Award for Outstanding Service. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church for 57 years and was a member of the Good Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Methodist Men's Club and also faithfully served as a board member and Sunday school teacher. The family would like to thank Westwood Nursing Facility for their special love and care.

2010 is the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. The organization's positive impact on the lives of boys in Western New York and across the country is remarkable and worthy of praise and respect, particularly at this time.

Instead, The News chose to reprint an article in the Jan. 10 paper titled, "Scouts Honor," which was written for the Los Angeles Times. This kind of negative and one-sided journalism has no place on the proud centennial of the Scouts, if ever. In addition, much of the content was erroneous, including the membership requirements in the last paragraph, which were just plain wrong.

The News owes the Scouts who delivered its papers over the years a better shake than this. Please rectify the wrong you have done by presenting a fair assessment of the contribution that scouting has made to the quality of life in our community for the last century.

Every time I think relations between the City of Buffalo and its employees can't get any worse, the administration sinks to a new low. The Feb. 15 News article explaining how the city broke the contract with hundreds of its injured-on-duty police officers and firefighters because there "might" be a "handful of them" abusing the system is shameful. New York has no right to raid snowmobile fund

I have been a snowmobiler for about nine years. I am 51 years old and own two sleds. The snowmobiling season starts after hunting season at the end of December and goes into March, if we are lucky enough to have snow and frozen ground. My New York State registration is $45 for each snowmobile and then insurance costs $65 per sled.

The registration fee goes into a fund for local snowmobile clubs and is used for putting up signs, building bridges over creeks and for grooming equipment. That is why we pay so much for registration when we get to play for only 10 weeks -- if there is snow.

Well, our governor is planning to take $5 million from our fund over the next few years, and put it in the general fund to offset the government spending spree here in New York. Now, the way I was raised, no matter how much you need money, just because your mom's purse is on the table, it doesn't mean you have a right to take the money from her to pay your bills. Unified Police Lt. Don Hutson said Friday's investigation went into the night, and officers were led to a West Valley City home where they found the gun early Saturday.

A gunman entered a city home, but the occupants managed to take his rifle and detain him until police arrived, police said.

Francisco Camacho-Otero, 29, of Maryland, entered the home at 422 S. Prince St. without permission at about 1:42 a.m. Monday, police said. He was "hanging out" with the residents there earlier in the evening but had left.

When he returned, Camacho-Otero started causing trouble and refused to leave, police said. Two men in the home, 25 and 30 years old, struggled to push him out the door.

One of them noticed Camacho-Otero had a rifle catalog printing tucked in his pants, police said. The two men took the loaded 22-caliber Marlin rifle from Camacho-Otero and detained him until police arrived a short time later.

The gun's serial number had been filed off, so police charged Camacho-Otero with possession of a firearm with an altered manufacturer's number, police said. He also was charged with trespassing.

Camacho-Otero was sent to Lancaster County Prison on $10,000 bail, police said.

nPolice have released the names of the victims of a shooting Monday night in Denver.

Kevin Blood, 44, of 938 Sycamore Drive, Denver, apparently was cleaning a 9 mm Browning semi-automatic handgun at about 8:50 p.m. when it discharged, East Cocalico Township police said.

The round went through Blood's left hand, through a gun cleaning kit and struck the right knee of Christopher Schretzenmaier, 22, of Adamstown.

Schretzenmaier is a friend of the family, police said.

Both men were transported to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment.

All indications are that the shooting was accidental, police said. The Lancaster District Attorney's Office was notified, and the investigation is continuing.
