POLICE in Nuneaton are hunting a man who they believe may be responsible for two handbag snatches on the same afternoon.
Handbags were snatched from two women in separate incidents which police believe may be connected.
In the first incident a 70-year-old woman was walking along School Hill, Chapel End, Nuneaton at around 12.50pm on Monday when a man driving a white van drew up alongside her.
He asked her for directions before grabbing her handbag from her shoulder, breaking the strap in the process, and driving off with the bag and contents.
The man is described as being in his 20s, 5ft 6in and stocky.
He was wearing workmen's clothes led replacement bulbs and a dark woolly hat.
The small white van had a roof rack on it and drove off towards Atherstone. It is thought to have a J or a K and the numbers 55 on the registration plate.
The van may have driven past the victim a couple of times prior to the theft of the handbag, possibly turning around in the entrance to Hartshill Hayes Country Park and also possible in Oldbury Road.

In the second incident, in Ridley Lane, Nether Whiteacre, Coleshill, a man driving a
embroidered patches white van pulled up alongside a female motorist at around 1.25pm.
He got out of his van, came over to the woman's car and asked for directions.
He then walked round and opened the passenger door of the car and stole a handbag from the front seat containing the woman's pension book and a quantity of money.
He got back into his van and drove off in the direction of Nether Whiteacre.
The man is described as being in his early 20s and was wearing a woolly hat. The van is believed to have had a J and a 5 in the registration number.
