Police in Rhyl yesterday warned women not to walk on their own late at night after two terrifying attacks.

The victims in both cases were lone women and the assaults are believed to be linked.

The first happened in the early hours of April 4, when a 25-year-old was confronted by a teenager in the Matalan car park and pushed to the Brass Rings ground.

He knelt over her and made comments of a sexual nature before running off with the victim's handbag.

The second assault happened early on April 12, when another 25-year-old woman was walking in the grounds of
embroidered patches St Thomas's Church.

She was grabbed around the neck by a youth and dragged towards the rear of the church. He claimed he had a knife but the woman screamed for help and he ran away.

Officers want to hear from any other women who may have encountered a similar ordeal but have not yet come forward.
